MARINA'S WORKSHOPS

I’m taking a break from teaching for the next several months as I have an injury to my hands and need to give it some time to heal. I shall re instate the lessons once things have improved.
Thanks for your understanding.
Warm regards
Marina

FULL DAY THROWING AND DECORATING COURSE

This day course gives you the opportunity to explore some processes using the potter's wheel and also to decorate your own pots. In the morning you throw and get to choose two of your favourite pots to trim and decorate in the afternoon using slips (coloured runny clay).

This workshop costs £180 for one or two people. I will fire and glaze your pots afterwards for collection from my studio approx.1 month later.

HALF DAY THROWING COURSE

In a half day you will learn how to throw your own pots on the potter's wheel with step by step guidance but I shall finish off and glaze them for you . It is always possible to book two separate half-day sessions if you want to trim and decorate your pots yourself.

The half-day course costs  £140 for one or two people.

MAKING-QUIRKIE WORKSHOP

This course involves making decorative and colourful little people (quirkies) which function as miniature vases.
They  are hand built using a slab roller and then assembled adding features in the morning.

After lunch we mix our chosen coloured ‘slips’ and paint a pretty pattern or design on our chosen  little character.
They look very cute and colourful when glazed and make the perfect gift for Christmas or any other time.
This course can also be booked as two half day courses.

CANCELLATIONS

Once a date is booked, postponements or cancellations can only be refunded two weeks prior to booked workshop date, unless a replacement is found.

A pottery wheel is available for hire, so you can practise at home.

A brilliant day. Marina put us at ease very quickly, talking through and showing us the processes we would be doing. Marina has total patience and a wonderful creative spirit which is contagious. Thank you for a lovely experience.

It was a lovely full-day course on a very hot day, and my girlfriend and I were pleased to notice the temperature in the pottery workspace was nice and chilled 😉 Marina was very warm and welcoming and lead us through the whole process with clear instructions and help when needed in a chilled atmosphere. Hours passed very quickly and that’s always a good indication of having a great time. We can’t wait to see how our work will turn out! Thank you, Marina!

Really enjoyed this morning with Marina. Our first ever attempt at pottery throwing. It was a very relaxed session in her garden workshop. Marina is very patient and hands on helping you every step of the way to make your own creations. We each made three pots. Which loom pretty darn good for beginners. Looking forward to our follow up session in a few weeks.

I’ve been going to classes with Marina for five months now and it’s been an amazing experience. Marina is very patient with teaching different techniques, we’ve done coiling and wheel and painted using glazes. I’ve brought my designs for plant pots and mugs and she’s helped me bring them to life – cannot recommend enough.

Jennifer

Lovely garden studio ceramics experience. So much to learn and made seemingly achievable in short sessions with Marina’s thoughtful and positive guidance. I would love to do more and hope to soon – thank you!

Hayley

We had a fantastic time. Marina was an amazing teacher and the time went so quickly. We could have stayed there all day we were enjoying it so much! We enjoyed chatting to Marina and the lovely coffees and biscuits were also a nice addition. We would definitely recommend a pottery session with Marina!

I started going to Marina’s classes a few of months ago and have been going ever since. I started with no experience and have already made some professional looking pots on the wheel. She is very welcoming and supportive of your individual ideas. I would definitely recommend her.

I bought a pottery class for my wife’s birthday and we went to see Marina together. We had a brilliant time with her, learnt a lot and had some really nice shortbread! Marina was patient and a good teacher and we both came away happy. Would highly recommend a course with Marina….

Clara

Great experience with friendly and skilled instructor. We managed to do a lot in the two hours, and it was a fun experience to use the wheel. Great to have 1 on 1 help with this as a complete beginner and I was pleased to have successfully made a bowl. Would definitely recommend

My teenage daughter had been doing pottery classes for a couple years, but wanted to try throwing a pot. When I googled throwing a pot in Surrey we were lucky enough to find Marina. A very experienced Potter based close to us in Dorking with a studio dedicated to all things pot like! We have had a few classes now and my daughter has the bug, she has bought home many pieces already and is gaining useful practical tips/hints from Marina who is a joy to learn with. I can recommend her highly whether you are experienced or not Marina will have you throwing successful pots on your first session!

Sophie

Fab course, excellent teaching! Kind and professional tutor 🙂

Marina organised a fantastic bespoke day for some friends and I . We managed to try our hand at throwing a pot or two and then using clay to cut, form and decorate vases and bowls . One of our group was very ambitious and tried her hand at making a clay clock! We thoroughly enjoyed the day as it was a welcome day off of work for all of us and we found it fun and relaxing too! Looking forward to seeing the finished articles once they’ve been fired. Marina is a great teacher and was very patient with us novices! Thanks for a great day Marina!
